There are so many beauty products out there, that it’s almost impossible to know what is worth your time. It can be overwhelming with the amount of brands and products.
I find I usually want to try things that someone suggested to me or from a suggestion on a blog. Or, perhaps, an item will catch my eye in a store then I’ll proceed to YouTube or Google the see reviews on it.
I have a relativly simple beauty routine, but there are 5 staples I am never without.
I justify purchasing a few items which are more expensive because I use them on a daily basis. Other beauty items I use rarely I purchase less expensive items (or minis!). That way I can experiment with different things and I’m simply not using them as often so I don’t want to invest in them.

5 Beauty Products I Can’t Live Without
The Body Shop Coconut Body Butter, $21
This body butter is made with virgin coconut oil from Samoa. It is the best moisturizer I have used and has a great texture that doesn’t leave behind any greasy feeling. Also, amazing fragrance.
Living Proof Full Thickening Cream, $36
Jennifer Aniston is an investor of Living Proof. Need I say more? Well, I will. I have unfortunately thin hair, and this is a total life saver. You just need to rub a small amount into damp hair and I swear you’ll notice your hair feeling thicker instantly. Blow dry and style like you usually would for epic results. Love this.
- They’re Real Mascara by Benefit, $31
The thickest, most dramatic eyelashes. Ever. I use several coats to get nice thick dark lashes. This is the first mascara I have tried that doesn’t flake onto my face, so I have stuck with it.
- Nars Larger than Life Long Wear Eyeliner in Via Viento, $32
This eyeliner glides on very smoothly, and it’s SO black. Like the perfect amount of darkness. And it never comes off. Kidding, but it has amazing staying power. It’s a twist up stick and has a sharpener at the opposite end. Perfect.
- Burt’s Bees Coconut & Pear Lip Balm, $4.89
I’m definitely on the coconut train, I’m obsessed. I’ve been using Burt’s Bees for years, and this is my favourite flavour. I love the feeling of this balm on my lips.
My Lip Obsessions
These are couple lip colours that I am digging right now. I wanted to share these because I have been experimenting with lip colours lately. I like matte lip colours that aren’t super bold so they are perfect for everyday wear and to polish off a casual look. These are 3 colours that range from nude to medium pink.
- Maybelline 655 Daringly Nude Matte, $7.99
This is a nice light peachy pink colour. Goes on nicely with rich pigmentation, but dries out over time. I’ve been layering this with Benefit Hoola ultra plush lip gloss.
- Burts Bees Lip Crayon in Hawaiian Smoulder, $9.99
I actually came across this on Anna Kendrick’s Instagram. She mentioned this lip colour on a post and I was already in love with Burt’s Bees, so I grabbed one. It goes on as smoothly as a chapstick but has a rich medium pink hue. It’s long lasting and doesn’t cake or get stuck in lip wrinkles.
- Katy Kat Matte 02 Pink Paws, $6.97
My name is Jordana, and I have something to confess. I am OBSESSED with cats. I love them all and their dumb cat heads and mostly love my kitty’s weird little cat personality. Ok, now that’s off my chest, the fact that Katy Perry’s line is cat themed, I could not resist. Katy is cool and all, but this let’s my love of cats show to the world! I love all the packaging of this product. And as it turns out, this is a really pretty shade of pink. It’s noticeable but not over bearing. Since it is demi matte, it glides on smoothly and isn’t too drying.
